Completed wide-span Clearview Patio viewed from the Bentleigh garden
Bentleigh · Roof-bracket attached patio

A nearly six-metre Clearview span without a centre post.

Roof brackets connect through to the roof trusses, while a project-specific C-beam carries the broad frontage between posts fixed to the concrete.

  • Nearly 6 m clear span
  • No centre post
  • Roof-truss brackets
  • Concrete-fixed posts
Does this sound familiar?

You want a wide covered patio—without a post in the middle.

A wide-span patio often starts with practical concerns about movement, furniture placement, the garden view and daylight beside the home.

  1. 01

    Keep the frontage open

A centre post can interrupt movement, furniture layouts and the garden-facing view.

  2. 02

    Cover a wider span

The support arrangement still has to suit the measured home, span and concrete platform.

  3. 03

    Retain filtered daylight

Fixed weather cover should not unnecessarily close in the patio or adjoining interior.

What to notice

The front opening stays clear from one outer post to the other.

The two outer posts carry the project-specific front beam, leaving the garden-facing opening free of a centre post. The roof-truss connection, panel layout and concrete-fixed posts are coordinated around the measured home.

01

The problem

The patio needed fixed weather cover and a broad, open frontage without a centre post interrupting the nearly six-metre span.

02

The configuration

Roof brackets connect through to the roof trusses, with the penetrations sealed as part of the installation. Concrete-fixed posts and a project-specific C-beam selected for the measured span carry the broad frontage.

03

The result

The front opening remains free of a centre post, preserving movement, furniture flexibility and the open garden view. Light-grey panels provide fixed weather cover while retaining filtered daylight beside the home.

Could a similar span work at your home?

A clear-span layout starts with the measured structure.

This project demonstrates one way to create a wide, open frontage, but the same beam and bracket arrangement cannot simply be copied to another home.

  • Available roof-truss connection points
  • Measured span and roof projection
  • Suitable post locations
  • Roof fall, gutter direction and discharge

These checks determine whether a similar clear-span configuration is practical for your patio.
